James "Jimmy" Hopkins is the main protagonist of the video game Bully. He was voiced by the musician Gerry Rosenthal.

- Heroic: Jimmy has saved Bullworth Academy from Gary Smith's tyranny.
- Mischievous: Jimmy takes pleasure in pulling pranks either to punish those who deserve it or for fun.
- Rebellious: Jimmy is shown to despise corrupt authority figures. It also has been noted that Jimmy has been expelled from at least seven schools for several misdemeanors (i.e. spraying graffiti, fighting, using profanity, etc.).
- Energetic: While typically stoical, Jimmy has many moments of being hot-blooded.
- Independent: Due to his neglectful upbringing, Jimmy was forced to fend for himself from a young age.
- Sarcastic/Witty: Jimmy tends to make wisecracks and witty remarks to make fun of others.
- Resourceful: Jimmy is rather cunning, as he is able to come up with creative solutions to problems or pranks.
- Confident/Cocky: Jimmy has high confidence in his ability to the point of being overconfident at times.
- Charismatic: Jimmy's tenacity and determination not only lead to him making friends, but love interests as well.
- Relatable: Jimmy is considered the everyman in the game due to being surrounded by students who live up to stereotypes and insane teachers.
- Empathetic: Despite his hardened attitude as a result of his troubled childhood, Jimmy shows empathy towards his peers and teachers who he knows are genuinely good people.
- Loyal: Jimmy shows great loyalty to his friends, especially Pete.
- Street-Smart: Jimmy is very streetwise, as he is able to think quickly on his feet and is resourceful and creative enough to outsmart his opponents and avoid punishments.
- Resilient: While he doesn't always win, Jimmy learns from his failures and rises up from them.
- Socially Savvy: Jimmy uses his social awareness to bring peace to Bullworth Academy.
- Carries a Slingshot: Jimmy has a slingshot as one of his main weapons throughout the game.
- Is a Delinquent:Jimmy has been noted for being expelled from at least 7 schools for various reasons (such as graffiti, fighting, bad language, etc.).
- Book-Dumb: Jimmy isn't known for his academic prowess.
- Has a Mischievous Laugh/Smile: Jimmy occasionally snickers when pulling pranks on others.
